Most probably you're a gamer and went through the Games' Graphic Settings. You may not see this 2 settings in older games as this is quite latest technology implemented.
What I'm going to talk in this post is about Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filter. I'm not a tech guy and doesn't know much about these terms. You may search for these terms in Wikipedia, you'll find all the facts there. What I'll be telling you is very brief and help you to "memorize" instead of "understanding".
Anti-Aliasing is like the sharpness of each object. Without anti-alias, you may see distortion or blurry object. Download the image for a better view. (Antialiasing.gif - 762KB)
Anisotropic Filter is for the viewable range in-game. When you're in-game, you'll not be able to look something that's very far because it's blurred. And anisotropic filter will solve that and improve the graphics. It also be used to smoothed the blurry of texture and model to make it look clearer. Bottom line is, better graphic.
